NPR has called Juanito Pascual "one of the hottest flamenco guitarists in recent years." In this brand new, one of a kind project, the world-class guitarist and Minneapolis native pays homage to his lifelong hero in an astonishing flamenco tribute infused with blues, jazz and rock. His virtuosic trio featuring Grammy-nominated percussionist Tupac Mantilla and bassist Brad Barrett channels the fire of Jimi’s music and spirit, reimagined through Spanish rhythms and masterful improvisation. The critically acclaimed Trio met at Boston's New England Conservatory and have since traveled the world together and through their many diverse collaborations.
This performance is the culmination of a creative residency at the Manship Artists Residency, where the artists rehearsed and developed this program.
